Tackle the Climate Crises from where it matters most | Season of Giving

You are only as strong as your weakest link.

To beat global Climate Change, we need the entire world ready to fight. That means finding the places and the people that are the most impacted, but the least prepared.

Ecuador’s coast is home to the world’s most threatened tropical forest – the Tropical Dry Forest1. Having suffered a 90% loss2 of its historical range, this habitat is highly endangered but often overlooked by researchers and NGOs that prioritize tropical rainforest habitats.

In turn, coastal communities and habitats are left neglected and unprepared.

The Importance of Latin American Tropical Dry Forests

Where it matters most.

Somos guerreros ambientales - We are environmental warriors.

The Bahia Eco-Club provides environmental education and reforestation campaigns for underprivileged Ecuadorian youth. Our program creates real opportunity for change as we fight against the climate crisis for a future.

Help us bring change to where it is needed most.

Our Climate Crisis strategy:

Creating Community

Our after-school program uses project-based learning to develop leadership skills for boys and girls in a hands-on, outdoor setting. By identifying local problems and creating real solutions, our students learn the power behind community, a concept that is not entirely active in Ecuador’s coastal regions.

Environmental Consciousness

Like many cities, Bahia functions with an over-dependence on single-use products and mishandling of waste. We address this challenge, compounded by the city’s coastal nature, through street and beach clean-ups that create an awareness of consumption practices, waste management, and their greater impacts.

Native Species Reforestation

A history of unsustainable agriculture, logging and urbanization has caused extreme levels of deforestation. Disastrous effects include habitat loss, soil erosion, desertification, and flooding. Of the many benefits, reforestation provides regional environmental resilience and global carbon sequestration.
