FROM SEED TO
FULL GROWTH
WE PRODUCE TREES,
TREES,
AND BACK AGAIN FROM THEIR SEEDS.
Modern society functions on a linear system - we take, we use, and we dispose, often with little thought of where things come from, where they go, and the impacts these practices have on our planet. By shifting our perspective and practice to a sustainable system, we can tread lightly on the earth and support her to heal.
OUR PROGRAM
Our program includes three basic elements - a nursery for tree production, a garden for vegetables and herbs, and a recycling shed and workspace. Together we learn, experiment and teach how we can manage each of these elements making minimal negative impact, and substantial positive impact.
TREE NURSERY
In our nursery, we produce different tree species from the Tropical Dry Forest, as well as Fruit trees. Our process begins with seed collection, germination, and transplantation into recycled water bottles that are donated, sold or reforested by us nearby!
VEGGIE GARDEN
Our garden is filled with various vegetables, root plants, and herbs that are planted from seeds or cuttings we harvest. We feed our plants with compost we make from our own food waste. And when ready to harvest, we divide veggies amongst the volunteers!
RECYCLING SHED
Our recycling shed is where we store collected "garbage," from plastic bottles to metal cans to bamboo and wood scraps. We plan to expand this element to include a community workshop where we share materials and DIY tutorials to cycle the "trash" back into the system!
